BMW M

INVISIBLE CO-PILOTS.

Driver Assistance systems in the BMW M2 Coupé.

In an M automobile, the focus is on one thing: pure driving pleasure. Everything else can be delegated. Intelligent systems such as Driving Assistant and the Lane Departure Warning identify possible risks. With the Navigation system Professional, you can find your way round effortlessly even when you’re not on a race circuit. And the rear view camera makes parking and manoeuvring even easier.

NAVIGATION SYSTEM PROFESSIONAL.

The Navigation system Professional, including USB interface, 8.8" LCD colour display and Radio BMW Professional with a DVD player, comes with a three-dimensional map display and 20 GB of memory. The system is operated intuitively via the iDrive Touch Controller or touch screen. Map updates* are available for three years without license fees.

  • iDrive Touch Controller

The iDrive Touch Controller (part of Navigation system Professional) enables intuitive and convenient operation of the iDrive system. The touchpad integrated into the Controller enables the user to easily enter destinations into the navigation system by writing them by hand. The entry appears in the Control Display.

  • Map updates

Map updates are available at BMW dealerships for three years without license fees.

DRIVING ASSISTANT.

The Driving Assistant safety equipment draws the driver's attention to an unintentional lane change or possible collision and brakes automatically in the event of an emergency.

Lane Departure Warning.

The Lane Departure Warning detects lane markings and alerts the driver to an unintentional lane change at speeds above approx. 70 km/h by means of vibrations in the steering wheel. The warning is not activated if the lane change is deliberate, that is, when the indicator has been activated.

Approach control warning.

Whereas the Approach control warning with light city braking function detects vehicles, the Person warning with light city braking function reacts to pedestrians. If a vehicle ahead brakes suddenly, the BMW responds immediately when the Approach control warning is activated. The system operates in steps. A warning symbol is first displayed, then the symbol begins flashing and an acoustic warning is emitted, and finally the brakes are lightly applied (when travelling at speeds under 60 km/h).

Person warning.

The person warning operates at speeds between 10 and 60 km/h and emits a single-level warning in the event of acute danger. If the system warns of a potential collision, the brakes are simultaneously preconditioned for a faster response. In the event of an emergency, the system applies the brakes. This function can be limited by darkness and fog.

REAR VIEW CAMERA.

REAR VIEW CAMERA.

The Rear view camera enables improved orientation when reversing at speeds below 15 km/h, for example when parking. It shows the area behind the car on the Control Display. Interactive track lines for measuring distance and turning circles assist the driver when manoeuvring, obstacles are marked in colour.

BMW SELECTIVE BEAM.

BMW Selective Beam makes driving at night more comfortable and safer. It provides excellent visibility in the dark without dazzling other drivers. The system detects other road users and selectively excludes them from the high-beam headlight distribution.
